The Association of Ambulance Chief Executives (AACE) provides ambulance services with a central organisation that supports, coordinates and implements nationally agreed policy. Aware of the rise in mental health issues among staff, AACE wanted to let employees know where they could seek help and advice, as well as sending the important message that there should be no stigma around mental health conditions.
Loving Life – Age UK Camden
This film was made for Dementia Awareness Week 2016, to show that memory loss and dementia do not have to stop you doing all the things you love. Age UK Camden wanted to publicise their range of services which help people with memory loss and dementia to get the most out of life.
Whistleblowing
Protect, the Whistleblowing Charity
Protect aims to make whistleblowing work for individuals, organisations and society. Every year, they support around 3,000 whistleblowers, as well as working with organisations on improving their speak up arrangements and campaigning for better legal protection of whistleblowers. Protect wanted a film establishing PCAW as the UK’s leading whistleblowing charity, and explaining what a toll whistleblowing can take on those who decide to speak out.

This film shows how flexible working can help you avoid tiredness, stress and other factors, to improve your performance at work. Produced for Working Families as part of National Work Life Week 2015.

Refugees
Building Brighter Futures – for South London Refugee Association
Asad and Nima both travelled to the UK aged 16 after being forced to leave their home countries for their own safety. This is the story of their experience in the UK since they arrived. SLRA wanted a film that showed local authorities and public services what life was like as a young unaccompanied refugee trying to navigate a complicated and sometimes confusing system.
Healthcare
HCA Accountability – for the Royal College of Nursing
The line between the duties of nurses and healthcare assistants is a blurred one – this film helps both parties understand their rights and responsibilities. Included real life case studies as well as some reconstructed scenes in a hospital. As shooting director working with sound recordist and editor, Jo developed the initial idea and worked with clients from pitch to delivery, with Redhouse Lane Communications.
999: What’s Your Emergency? Series 2
Please note: includes mention of suicide.
An intimate and frank look at modern Britain through the eyes of the ambulance services on the front line. This episode focuses on the huge number of patients with mental health issues which ambulance control centres and crews deal with every day. Series 2 made with Blast! Films for Channel 4.
Disability
Equal Access For All – for UK Vision Strategy
UK Vision Strategy, a group of national disability charities including RNIB, RNID and Mencap, wanted a film to show GP Practice Managers the kind of problems disabled people experience when visiting the doctor. This warm and light-hearted film includes people with sight, hearing and learning difficulties explaining how surgeries can help them get easier access to healthcare. Working closely with a group of clients throughout the process, Jo directed and filmed this film with Redhouse Lane Communications.
International Development
Show Me What You’re Made Of
Nominated for a Children’s TV BAFTA, this CBBC series took five pampered British kids to Indonesia and the Philippines to find out what life is like for the people who make their clothes, gadgets, toys and jewellery. In this section, part of Series 1 Ep 3, the kids have just arrived at a village where jewellery is outsourced to home workers. Made with Watershed TV for CBBC and BBC1.
